Just a small prize today- nothing like a usual grab bag. But, I thought of a new way to make this fun and raise the number of participants, I hope, while also making everyone do a little research. ]

Today’s Question:
There have been several pitchers who have pitched complete games on this day in post-season history. Can you name one? (Try to name only one, to give others as much chance to play as possible- and then expect something small in the mail in a few weeks.)

Don Larsen’s moment of greatness came on this day in 1956 …. A Perfect Game in the World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers.

As I recall, not too long ago, you had a really great review of a book about Larsen’s perfect game!

October 8, 2006 - Roy Oswalt Houston Astros

Oswalt threw a complete game shutout against the Mets, allowing just 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 11. Oswalt also helped himself out with the bat, hitting a solo homer to lead off the 5th inning.

Ahhh… Kathy, I thought you would call up memories of Mike Scott! Still Oswalt is good. As of course, is Don Larsen. Can’t I get a couple of more- it was a prolific day for pitchers to go the distance…. Any Mets fans out there?

Mike Scott is great too. But I was such a fan of Roy Oswalt!
