In 2011, New York Yankee’s All-Star Curtis Granderson helped to open a renovated schoolyard in the Bronx. Granderson participated in a wiffle ball home run derby contest where he raised $1,500 for the school.
The Yankees, along with the American Dairy Association, assisted Grandersonn his efforts to renovate PS 19X’s schoolyard. The Yankees and the American Dairy Association promoted a healthy lifestyle by encouraging kids to make nutritious food choices and increase their daily exercise.
