This is the day we are all to be reminded to say thank you for our blessings. Just weeks after hurricane Sandy, many of might be more challenged by the fact but also more in touch with the aspects of our lives that make us thankful. I am thankful that ten years after starting this sight, it is still going strong with new voices and new points of view and now and then lots of participation from our readers. I am thankful for the love in my life and for my family- be they the ones I was born with or the one that I have joined from free choice.
For today’s baseball reading, I am sending you to ESPN- something I don’t do very often. Jerry Crasnick writes about MLB Players Association President Michael Weiner’s fight against brain cancer. Weiner, a guy not often in the spotlight, has been surprised by all the support he has received as the news has trickled out of his illness. And that is often what we forget. While it is important to feel gratitude for our gifts. It is also so important to share what we have - especially our support- to those that are not so fortunate.
So, today, while we are counting our blessings, and praying for those who do not have as much, let us each chose some way to extend some help to another. Maybe it is just a phone call to send warm wishes and to let someone know they are in your thoughts.
Baseball is a blessing that connects us. Let us, even in this off-season, find new ways to stay connected.
