Two years ago, Barry Zito was left off the post-season roster.  It wasn’t believed he could even help should the team need a long reliever.  Last night though, he showed why he was given the huge contract back in 2007.  He pitched like Zito of old, and once again showed that good pitching beats good hitting.  And because of his style, Zito make Lincecum look more than effective in relief.   While Lincecum had a struggle all season, following Zito he has confounded hitters with his very different style.

While I thought the Tigers could have the advantage in this series, the Giants showed exactly why they are in the World Series last night, getting to Justin Verlander often, and disrupting his rhythm until he finally had to be pinch-hit for.  If you were on the fence about whom to root for in this series, the Giants made a strong case that it should be them.

Me?  I’m still hoping for seven games- so Go Tigers!
