Word seems to be that Ozzie Guillen will no longer be the manager of the Chicago White Sox. It seems the outspoken Guillen has asked for his release from his contract, and has been traded to the Marlins as this Joe Cowley piece details. Anyone watching had to know that despite the 2012 contract extension Guillen received. Who could replace him? No one could come close in terms of style, but look for Buddy Bell to be a primary candidate. That will sure give a different feeling on the Southside!
So if Ozzie will be in Florida tomorrow, as expected, then the current manager will need to find a new job. Jack McKeon will manage his last game on Wednesday, and most likely it really will be his last managerial job. It will be interesting to see if the Marlins do return him to an advisory role. This Joe Capozzi piece has some nice McKeon quotes.
Lastly, it isn’t a done deal yet, but the Yankees president has said he wants Brian Cashman back as GM. That is just about all it should take, though obviously terms of the deal need to be worked out. Though Cashman might dream of seeing if he can build a team on a budget, he isn’t about to go find out just yet I suspect.

Farewell to Ozzie. He gave us a championship and a great 5-6 years. The last 2 have been brutal, however, with his rantings & fits.
