First, I must point out the Tri-City Valley Cats and the Brooklyn Cylcones open the championship series tonight in Troy, New York, home of Joe Bruno Stadium.  If you are anywhere near the field, make it out to see these two teams battle it out.  If you are in the city, know that the series will continue tomorrow in Brooklyn.

If you aren’t anywhere near those ballparks, well there is some good baseball happening, as all the races continue to get tighter and tighter.  But here is a funny bit that actually came out of the Milwaukee press box yesterday.  Someone slipped a fake press release in with the other game day notes, about a fictitious book written by Cubs GM Jim Hendry.  The book purports to describe many of Jim Hendry’s crazier moves, like giving no-trade clauses to players, and signing of Milton Bradley.  Its a hoot.

Lastly, Kevin Towers, along with Logan White and Jerry DiPoto, is being considered for the Arizona Diamondbacks job.  Don’t expect him to take it, even though the D’backs are getting a jump on the season by starting to interview now.  There are too many GM jobs opening up- especially that one in New York- for Towers to say yes to the D’backs without fielding other offers.  Here is the Nick Piecoro story about the search so far.
