I know it seems late to be talking about an All-Star game.  The NY-Penn League though, is short-season A ball ball, which begins its season in late June, following the MLB amateur draft.  August is just a little more than half way through their short season which ends in mid-September.  Remember, many of these young men who were just drafted already played an entire high school or college baseball season in 2010 prior to joining their organization.

So, on Tuesday, August 17, the Staten Island Yankees will host the NY-Penn league all-star game.  All-Stars from all 14 league teams will appear.  Gates open at 3pm, with batting practice beginning soon after.  The game itself will start at 7pm.

The Staten Island host has a number of ways fans can participate. Besides, auctions and autographs at the ballpark, their is a will be a VIP reception prior to the game at the St. George Theater and a Staten Island Pizza tour.  Of course, there will also be a post-game fireworks display, with Manhattan in the background.

This is a great opportunity for baseball fans of all types to see their team’s stars of the future- the Robinson Cano’s, Clay Buckholz’s and Jose Reyes’.  This may also be the closest you ever get to those guys as well.

Jump on the ferry, and when you arrive, walk down the ramp to your right- It could not be easier.
