We all think a hitting coach sits around and watches video, or watches the players during the game and says things like “You gotta keep your bat flat through the zone” or “You need to not let your hips get out in front of you”, and they do. But they also find ways to teach players to change their swing or control their swing. This very quick Ben Shpigel blog post gives a little window into Kevin Long of the Yankees. A teacher that can find the ways to present material in new accessible ways is invaluable.
