We all have dreams- who knew that by renting their land to a movie in the late 1980s though, Becky Lansing and her husband would have the chance to make some money. The land that the movie Field of Dreams was filmed on is for sale for $5.4 million. This piece from the Des Moines Register gives some details.
It is estimated that 65,000 people make their way to the property each year- though the Lansings have never charged admission, so that is a rough figure. The Lansings have maintained a souvenir stand there, but that has been their only capitalistic move. The Lansings say they want to retire, and of course selling family land worth a fair amount of money will help them do that.
