Great piece by Ian O’Connor about Ed Whitson and playing in New York when the fans are against you- even if you are on their team!  Whitson rarely speaks about this, but here is a very graphic picture of what it was like for him in the mid-1980s.  Whitson speaks to Javier Vasquez, who is struggling in his return to the Yankees after some good years with other teams.  The piece also reminds you about the George Steinbrenner we all remember- one who got his way.
