Still sitting in Jupiter, no longer in the sun and I believe I could count the fans in the stadium one hour before game time. Almost all are wearing some Mets gear, though a few are showing some Marlins color.

The earlier game was a pretty good one. Tim Hudson started for the Braves and he went 5 innings, inducing many ground ball outs- his bread and butter. He looked healthy and ready to go for the season, tossing nice and easy.

Rich Hill, the ex-Cub looked OK. He seemed to have some location trouble and he isn’t quite major league ready yet after his surgery. He had some impressive moments, but he also missed his spots too.

At one point, in an attempt to pick Melky Cabrera off base, he threw to first and the ball went into the bullpen and bounced around. Melky scored from first for the first run of the game.

The Braves had their prospect Freeman playing first base in the late innings, and though the kid seemed to be able to hit- he couldn’t play first. One ball bounced off of him and rolled towards second and instead of moving to it or to first he stood there letting
The second baseman run over, field it and throw it to the pitcher who was covering first. There were a couple of other moments that showed a lack of hustle too.
They say if he can hit, a team will find someplace for him to play- but I am not sure that they will find a a place for him in the National League.

Tonight’s lineup includes Cameron Maybin and Ricky Nolasco pitching. The Mets have David Wright and Jason Bay behind Oliver Perez. Should be interesting to see.
