I haven’t been feeling well the past few days, and actually laid down on my bed in the sun, with the radio on listening to a spring game while I napped. Nothing finer than that, I say.
Here are just a couple of quick pieces, which should make for some good Sunday morning feel good reading. I hope everyone can find a game on their local radio later today, as well.
First up, the Angels have created to organizational awards named for two Angels who passed away last year. This post shows the Nick Adenhart Award and the Preston Gomez awards as they will look going forward. Beautiful tributes.
Here is a piece about Chris Ramirez, a teenager with a brain tumor, who through the Make-A-Wish foundation got a try-out with the Dodgers. The young man got to throw, field and do drills with many of the Dodgers, and even got to play catch with Manny Ramirez. I find when I read pieces like this that Manny comes off so good, that it reminds me of that episode of the Brady Bunch where Bobby learns a little about Billy the Kid, but thinks he is a really nice guy because of the editing of the movie about him.
Lastly, this isn’t quite in the feel-good category, but just a little amusing. Steve Henson writes about Derek Lowe’s need for a new delivery and how the Braves pitcher will not get lulled into commenting on the ownership situation his former team, the Dodgers despite the fact that when he was going through a divorce, then owner Jamie McCourt felt the need to comment on his divorce.
