As part of our need to track the good guys in baseball, we often try to track down the charities that they become involved in.  For an extensive list of charities associated with MLB or with particular players, click here. Today, though, this Dan Mcgrath piece looks at the life and struggle of Ryan Dempster, his wife Jenny and their daughter Riley who suffers from a rare affliction, called DiGeorge Syndrome.  DiGeorge Syndrome prevents the person afflicted from swallowing because they are missing a particular chromosome.  The Dempsters have started a foundation to raise awareness, but also to help families that are afflicted, but may not have all the resources to deal with it- particularly financially.  Check out Ryan and Jenny Dempster Family Foundation website for more details.  Check out the article for more about the Dempster’s life and challenges.
