Off-Season Trivia

Well, I have been struggling to find good things to write.  I forgot how rough the off-season was, particularly Mondays, when the world (or at least the U.S.) focuses on football.  But that’s what makes this week’s Tuesday Trivia such a great sponsor.  While I obviously spend so much time on baseball, its easy to forget how great all those other sports out there are!  Robert Tuchman’s The 100 Sporting Events You Must See Live: An Insider’s Guide to Creating the Sports Experience of a Lifetime is a great book which highlights the coolest of sporting events. Each event also includes recommended hotels, travel packages, to make your trip easy to plan. What’s Tuchman’s number 1 event? The Master’s- one of the hardest tickets around. Highest baseball recommendation? Red Sox and Yankees at Yankee Stadium. That’s enough to tell me he knows what he’s talking about.   There are the ones that anyone might guess, and quite a few unexpected.  I may be a baseball fan, but I have to say I want to head out to see how many of these I can check off the list.

For a copy of The 100 Sporting Events You Must See Before You Die, just answer the question in the comments section below. This contest is open to everyone.

Today’s question: Joe Mauer won the 2009 American League MVP award yesterday. Who was the last catcher to win an MVP award?

Ivan’s mvp award was deleted from the record books because he was full of roids in 1999. I wish I had before & after 2000 photos of him to show you, he wasn’t the same guy. Hence Bench is the correct answer.
