What the Phillies are Doing

While the parade continues in New York, the Phillies are sitting down to discuss next year.  Rich Hoffman is calling on the team to acquire Roy Halliday from the Blue Jays.  David Murphy is summarizes what the Phillies issues are.  He’s got 5.

1. Can the team afford to raise payroll?  Attendance was up, they went deep into the playoffs, which creates extra revenue both from seats and advertising.  They should have more money to play with- but this is an ownership decision.

2. Pedro Feliz- how much does his defense add to the team?  How much offense will they need from that position?  Is Feliz still a good fit?

3. Greg Dobbs?  Matt Stairs? Can they do better there?

4.Brett Myers, Chan Ho Park- what happens to their bullpen?  What do they actually need?

5. Who replaces Pedro and Jamie Moyer for next year?

They will be a player in the free agent market- and are going to make the Mets job extra hard this off-season.
