OK, I have never thought much of Casey Blake- guess actually I have never thought much about Casey Blake truth be told. I have long though he looked like the original Chia Pet head.  These aren’t the best comparison shots- but not something I am spending a huge amount of time with on the internet.

I don’t know, perhaps it works better with his batting helmet on, but I couldn’t find a head shot that way.

Anyway, it turns out Casey Blake is a great guy.  The glue that holds teams together very often, at least according to this Hannah Karp piece. And I am not sure if you were still watching in the eighth inning last night, but he put together one of those great at bats of all time- though in the end grounded out with the bases loaded.  But for a guy who really has often been considered a journey-man hitter, he must have fouled off 6 or 7 pitches with a full count to keep hope alive.  If he would have done anything besides hit it to Jimmy Rollins, it might have been compared to Paul O’Neil in 2000 against the Mets.  Any, tip of the cap to Casey Blake.
