I’m tipping my hat to Jerry Hairston Jr., not because he ended Andy Pettitte’s bid for a perfect game but because he must have stood in the locker room for 30 minutes with cameras and microphones in his face answering the same question over and over. It was clear how bad he felt, but Pettitte would have still had to get 7 more outs for the perfecto and Pettitte was already later in the game than he had been during the season. It wasn’t the 9th inning it was the 7th.
So perhaps it was not Andy’s night to join the ranks of Dave Righetti, and Allie Reynolds. After all the Yankees have had 13 no-hitters thrown for them in their history. The Yankees are not the team to have the most though, not even the most in the AL, where Boston leads that race with 19. And that leads us to our Tuesday trivia contest for this week.
Tuesday Trivia is brought to you by GAMEWEAR, makers of cool MLB licensed accessories such as this week’s prizes. Winner will receive one key chain and bracelet, with the winner’s choice of team’s logo.
