“Led by young guns Marte, LaPorta, Cleveland Indians rally past Baltimore, 5-3 ”
This story links to a Paul Hoynes game story, which I haven’t actually read. I just loved the headline, because it sounds as if someone might actually care about this game. And I know there are folks that care about this game, but that headline writer should get a pay raise.
From an Indians’ fan standpoint, it does two things: it tells the reader the Tribe won, and it points to the future players that were keys to the game. Those might be the only two reasons to read that game story, and that headline might make you stop are read it.
Meanwhile, in Baltimore, fans are reading: ” After delay, A Draining Loss for the O’s”. Only a tiny reason to read that story- to find out what the delay was. Needless to say, both sports sections have large area given to football.
