For a Few Teams- The Tale Will be Told Monday Morning

When Monday morning comes, we will know a lot more than we know today about who may be in the playoffs.  The Yankees return to Fenway to show the Red Sox that the series they played last month was a better reflection of who they are than the last visit to Fenway might have shown.  A couple of wins by the Yankees, and the Red Sox at best will be playing for the wild-card.

Those Sox will be doing some scoreboard watching though, because their main competition for that wild-card, namely Texas and the Tampa will be matched up as well.  If Texas comes out on top in that series, well, the Rays are going to have a pretty tough road to get back to the playoffs.  And wins by Texas, and losses by the Sox also spell a rocky road for Boston.

Oh, and while we are speaking about the Rockies, they play three games against the Giants, who they are battling for the NL wild-card lead.  The Rockies play the Giants a few more times this season, so there is some room for that pendulum to swing again.

The Marlins are playing the Braves who are also in the NL wild-card conversation.

This is an exciting weekend for baseball- no matter who your team.  Even the Orioles are playing the White Sox, who are hanging around the AL Cental, and though there will be no post-season share for the Orioles no matter the outcome, they do have the chance to affect the playoff race.

The weather is turning cool, at least in the east, and though it isn’t expected to last long- one can’t help but begin to think about October.  Pick a game to watch this weekend, because there is going to be a ton of good baseball.
