Interestingly, David Waldstein wrote a piece about the new Rawlings batting helmet which will protect a hitter from a 100mph fastball. The piece quoted many players saying it was too ugly to actually wear. Only David Wright suggested safety was the most important thing. I am guessing his order for the new helmets had not come in when he was beaned on Saturday night by a Matt Cain pitch. Timing is everything.
