After the ridiculously long rain delay yesterday, the New York Yankees did one thing absolutely right. They offered fans, whether they sat through the rain delay or not, another ticket to either a 2009 or a 2010 game in any of three seat locations (provided the seat was not sold, a big if of course.) They also gave the an option to use their tickets as a coupon towards half price off any ticket from any other section except club seats.
Rumor also had it that they told fans who were sitting in the open rain that they could move down to sections that were lower that were covered, to help the lower seating bowl look full. That’s a great move, because it rewards the most loyal of fans, without much promise for the future. It also allows fans to see what another section might be like for the future.
In mid-May, the Yankees opended the lower bowl outifeld seats for BP to all fans, due to the number of complaints they received about lack of access during BP. For all the bad press they got, they are working to make the Yankee game experience a premier fan enounter with the biggest name in baseball. Glad they finally remembered how they got that title.
