Buster Olney says the Red Sox are looking at options at short, and talking (or listening) to Oakland for Orlando Cabrera, and to Pittsburgh for Jack Wilson. Wilson is still owed $6million for this season, so he is an expensive option, but the Bucco’s would love to get rid of that salary, even at the expense of further upsetting their players.
As of June 6th, the Sox were 8-13 when Julio Lugo started at short. With Nick Green at short the Red Sox are 21-8. - The problem is Green’s defense is better but his bat is not. And short is a bad place to have a glaring defensive hole.
