Well, yesterday I wrote a little about my suspicians that Brian Bannister was brought up to make a start in Cleveland against Cliff Lee because the teams front office wanted to get their ace away from facing the Clevelands. While I stand by that part of the guess, I through out there too that I presumed that Dayton Moore might be thinking there was little chance that his team could win anyway. I was wrong. Though Cliff Lee went 8 innings and only gave up two earned runs, its seems Brian Bannister, coupled with the bullpen team of Jamey Wright and Joakim Soria were better, giving up just 5 hits for a shut-out. Please note that was not something the high-payroll Yankees could do which has to show you money can’t buy everything.
For a little more of the game story, and some quotes from the players etc, here is a link to Bob Dutton’s game story.
I’m working on a longer post about my visit to the Yankee Stadium, but wanted to make amends for what turned out to be my incorrect analysis yesterday, and because the Stadium visit might take awhile and wanted to make sure there was something new up here to read.
