Basically, Cito hates the Rocket. Here is the Ken Fidlin (great name) piece about Jeff Perelman’s new book, and about Cito’s relationship with Roger Clemens.
Its quite a piece, particularly since its a viewpoint that is not often expressed in print.
I’m looking around for news on the Sheffield situation. The teams that are interested, Mets, Reds and Phillies all only have platoon jobs, allowing sheft to play against lefties. The Reds have probably the best opportunity for Sheff to usurp the opening day guy, but then Sheff has to play in Cincy. My bet, is if no other teams get in the mix, he goes to NY for the bigger stage.
Also of note, Geoff Jenkins and Frank Catalanotto have both been released and are also available. Texas seems to be sticking with Andruw Jones for the time being, so they aren’t picking up Sheffield. They have too many necessary roster moves to try to make to throw Sheff in the mix at this point. By then end of tomorrow, I expect all three have new homes.
