Just a quick note from John Hickey’s blog about the options that remain for the Mariners. If its really coming down to a choice between Pat Burrell and Adam Dunn being overpaid, well… its going to be hard for the team to win any more games then it did last year.
Paul Hagen writes a really great piece about the separation of Pat Burrell from Philly. It says something if Philly fans like you, or if as a player, you think Philly fans like you. It speaks to Burrell is a positive way, really. As for his replacement, well, its been years since I have seen Raul Ibanez play with any kind of regularity. Reports are his power and his legs are good, which makes him a step up on Burrell without a doubt. He also should be fine in the clubhouse. It will be interesting to see how the change affects the team, if at all.
Lastly, poor Cole Hamels who was dumb enough to fall for a NY host asking him if he thought the Mets were choke artists. They asked the question so he thought he could actually say ‘Yes’…. little did he know. Sure it made headlines, but Joe and Evan, the radio hosts who asked the question, should apologize to the kid. They’ve been in the business much longer than this kid has been in baseball.
