Sitting here in Ft. Lauderdale watching the Marlins take b.p. On an extremely humid day is a pretty impressive sight, despite the fact that this could be one of the worst spring training facilities in existance. Hanley Ramirez and Miguel Cabrera are in the same hitting group and nutg are very very impressive. Miguel began very light and easy and slowly has stepped up effort so the ball was lightly flying out to right like a dying quail, but by the end was moving fast through the hole at short, and like a shot to deep left center. BP is fun when you can are a playerr with that much control move the ball around. Hanley was another story as he stareyed harder and the ball really popped right away. He never had it flying deeply, but just quick, with a very quick flat bat.
These are two guys that one can learn q lot from watching, its really too bad that they play for a team that gets such little coverage.
Today I will be watching the game sitting next to a special assistant for the Mets. He’s the guy that have Omar Minaya his first job.
